Countermanding payment of a cheque or a cheque book should only be done in the event of loss, theft, or fraudulent use without loss.
If one of these cases concerns you, you must inform your branch as soon as possible so that we can follow your instruction.
How to countermand payment?
This can be done as soon you contact your bank. Your request is registered immediately and must be confirmed in writing.
Report to local police authorities.
In case of theft or of fraudulent use without loss, you must report the incident to your local police authorities and obtain a receipt of your declaration. This must be deposited at your bank.
Customer responsibility.
You are entirely responsible any misrepresentation, of any delay in reporting the event, or misuse by a member of your family. Any non-founded countermand is liable to penal sanctions.
